“To promote Creative Commons licensed music and the musicians behind it, Musikpiraten e.V. launches this year once again the Free! Music! Contest. Last year we had about 60 submissions, this year our goal is 150! Until the end of July, musicians and bands who are releasing their music under a Creative Commons license, can register for the contest. Until August 22th there will be an additional remix-phase: the participating artists are invited to submit single stems or acapellas in addition to the individual songs. By submitting individual tracks or the submission of music videos, the chance to be added onto the sampler that will be a result of the contest, will be increased – if only just a little bit.” Christian sez

A panel of music bloggers, artists and netlabel enthusiasts then decides who will be promoted on the Free! Music! Sampler 2010. It will be made available as a free download and also be pressed on CD. The highlight of the Free! Music! Contest will be on October second: a party at the Wiesbaden Kreativfabrik

In addition to artists, we are also looking for sponsors. If you are interested in getting involved monetarily or with a prize, all the necessary information can be found at here

From June 10-12 Berlin’s original Videokunst Club Visual Berlin presents the Visual Berlin Festival.

http://festival.visualberlin.org/

Berlin’s original Videokunst Club, Visual Berlin reflects the richness of the city. With members from nine countries it is a diverse family bound together by a shared commitment to the progression of the projected image. Founded in 2005 the collective has become an institution in Berlin with members specializing in everything from underground party visuals to hardware-hacking, programmed arts, experimental performance and media philosophy. The group includes established local VJs as well as internationally renowned artists and AV performers who collectively illuminate countless venues and stages across Berlin every week.

Since 2003 members of Visual Berlin have hosted international artist meetings and exchanges, promoting a network of dialogue and support across the global visual community. In 2010 they proudly present their third installment in one of the city’s most fascinating industrial spaces: the legendary Tresor complex.

Want to get involved with the festival? VisualBerlin is looking for volunteers to lend a hand at our event!

This whole festival is organized by people out of sheer love for the artform. Everybody involved is working for free to make this a special weekend, however we are only so many. So we’d like to take this opportunity to invite people who share a love for visual and electronic arts to get involved. To show our appreciation we invite you to join us for the entire festival with a free festival pass.

You can help immediately with flyer/poster distribution (now – 12.06)
Technical setup on site (09.06-14.06)

Plus general helping hands, communication and support at our events (10.06-12.06)

http://barefeats.com/fcp7.html

Plenty of new SLRs from Cannon with cool codecs. For example.

And an interesting new Cannon video camera in the works

http://thetechnofile.com/2010/02/20/

A very cool Blog not related directly to editing but great all the same

The name of this particular post says it all. Some Users Want Terrible User Interfaces

http://ignorethecode.net/blog/2010/03/25/

Also a nice link for an interesting new interface idea for an iPad world!
